SING WITH US! The Tasmanian Song Company always welcomes new singers,so if you live in or near Hobart and are thinking of joining a choir we'd be delighted to hear from you. We rehearse Mondays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Wesley Community Hall (next door to Wesley Uniting Church), 58 Melville St., Hobart. Will you need to audition? Not at all! We have a relaxed, non-exclusive policy for people who wish to join us. Our members obviously need to have reasonable vocal capabilities and, since we are an SATB choir, they must also be able sing a separate vocal part (ie soprano, alto, tenor or bass). That's not too hard to learn, by the way. Do you need to be able to read music? No, you don't. Of course, you'll find learning your music much easier if you can but it is not a requirement of our choir that members be able to read music. We sometimes make CDs or audio tapes available to aid learning and encourage members to record their own parts at rehearsals. Our publication ‘The ABC of Reading Music’, written for non music- reading choristers, is available to all members and will teach you quickly and easily how to read music. Click on the ‘Read Music!’ button above to download and print it out. Will being a member take much of your time? Members’ time commitments aren't onerous. We rehearse for two hours each week. For obvious reasons members are expected to attend regularly and to look at their music between rehearsals if possible. HOW CAN YOU FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OUR CHOIR? If you'd like to join us or learn more about the Tasmanian Song Company please contact us (see above), or, if you wish, just come along to one of our Monday night rehearsals. New members are always very welcome. USING OUR CHOIR STANDS Our choir stands are available for use by other choirs or organisations. Please contact the Secretary if you wish to use them. To view complete information about the stands click here. BECOME A FRIEND OF THE TASMANIAN SONG COMPANY Would you like to become a Friend of the Tasmanian Song Company? We’ll keep you informed about choir news and upcoming performances and you’ll be able to reserve tickets at concession prices. There are no strings attached and no costs whatsoever involved (hard to believe these days!). If you’d like to join our circle of Friends all you need to do is send an email with your name and address to our Secretary at egtaylor@netspace.net.au.
